tory: The Way Back
There was a young man named Omar who lived his life without caring much about what pleased Allah. He would delay his prayers and spend long hours doing things that were of no benefit to him. Whenever someone advised him, he would say:
“There's still plenty of time… I’ll repent when I get older.”
One quiet night, Omar sat alone thinking about his life. He opened his phone and saw some old pictures of himself with his friends. He realized how much time had passed without him noticing.
He said to himself:
“Every day I keep saying ‘tomorrow’… but what if there is no tomorrow?”
Omar did not know how to begin, but he got up, performed ablution, and then prayed two units of prayer. After the prayer, he sat for a long time and prayed to Allah:
“My Lord, I have fallen short many times, but I want to return to You, so please help me.”
The next day, his life did not change completely, but he began with a small step. He started maintaining his prayers, stayed away from bad company, and began reducing the things he knew were taking him away from Allah.
Whenever he became weak, he remembered that guidance does not mean becoming a person who never makes mistakes. Rather, it means knowing the way back to Allah whenever you make a mistake.
After several months, Omar had become a different person. He no longer searched for happiness in everything around him. Instead, he found a peace he had never known before.
One day, one of his friends asked him:
“What changed you?”
Omar smiled and said:
“I used to think that guidance meant becoming perfect… but I understood that guidance means starting to walk on the right path and continuing to return to Allah whenever I fall.”
Lesson
Do not say, “I am too far from Allah.”
Start with one step. The beginning could be a prayer, repentance, giving up a sin, or staying away from a friend who leads you toward wrongdoing.
And never lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for the door of repentance is always open.

A Sermon About Guidance and Staying Away from Forbidden Things
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
To proceed:
O servants of Allah, the greatest blessing a person can have is the blessing of guidance. Guidance is not money, fame, or power. Rather, it is for a person to know his Lord, recognize truth from falsehood, and strive to obey Allah.
Allah, the Exalted, says:
“Guide us to the Straight Path.”
We ask Allah for guidance in every prayer because, no matter how righteous a person may be, he always needs guidance and steadfastness.
O Muslim, do not let Satan deceive you by saying, “You can repent later.”
No one is guaranteed tomorrow.
And if you fall into a sin, do not say, “I am finished, and Allah will never accept my repentance.”
Instead, repent to Allah, ask Him for forgiveness, and sincerely resolve not to return to the sin.
Allah, the Exalted, says:
“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.’”
One of the reasons for remaining firm upon guidance is to stay away from forbidden things, choose your friends carefully, maintain your prayers, and pay attention to what enters your heart and mind through content, words, and ideas.
Remember that giving up what is forbidden is not a loss. Rather, it is a victory over yourself. And when a person gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah is able to replace it with something better.
So, you who have turned away from prayer, return.
You who are tired of a sin you are trying to leave, do not despair.
You who keep company with people who take you away from Allah, choose righteous companionship for yourself.
And you who say, “I will repent tomorrow,” make today your beginning.
O Allah, guide us and guide others through us. Make our hearts firm upon Your obedience. Keep evil and indecency away from us. Forgive our shortcomings and grant us sincere repentance and righteous hearts.
