In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May blessings and peace be upon the most honorable of messengers, our master Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions

Summary of the interpretation

 of Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 17:29

God gives us examples from the tangible to help us learn the unseen. God likened the hypocrites to a fire that is lit for them. When it lights up for them and before they can benefit from it, the light is extinguished. Then, when it returns to them, before they can benefit from it, it is extinguished.

And so on. When they wanted to benefit from the light of faith due to their closeness to the believers, God removed the light of faith from their hearts by the power of God Almighty, for God is capable of all things He left in their hearts an accumulating darkness of hatred, envy, regret, These hypocrites' ears are deaf, unable to hear God's way, their tongues are mute, unable to speak the truth, and their eyes are unable to perceive God's signs. They do not see faith and its goodness,

and they fear and hate what God has commanded of enjoining good and forbidding evil.  Allah likened their hatred and fear of following Allah's commands, which bring goodness, to their fear of natural phenomena such as darkness, thunder, and lightning, which are followed by rain, from which goodness comes. The unbeliever desires to attain goodness without effort and fears death. This is evidence of their fear of Allah's punishment after death. However, due to their ignorance and the darkness of their hearts, they do not see the light, not even the light of faith. Then Allah addresses the people with the call to Lordship, because Lordship is a gift from the Creator to all of His creation,

and He does not differentiate in His gift between believer and unbeliever. He reminds them of the truth that He is the Lord, the Creator of all things and has the right to be worshipped, so that they may fear and love Him, for He is the One who created them and provided for them,

and He is the One who made the earth a bed and made the sky a protected structure, and sent down rain, causing the crops to grow, and that they should not take anyone as a rival to Allah.  Allah the Almighty challenges those who doubt the Quran revealed to the unlettered Messenger to produce even a single surah like it,

and to produce witnesses from among themselves who testify that it is like this Quran, even though they are experts in eloquence and language. But this is a challenge from Allah to those who doubt the Quran, and the result is that they will never be able to do so. After this challenge, in which Allah confirmed their inability, Allah informed them that in the Hereafter there is Hell and torment,

and that they will be its fuel. They should fear the Hellfire prepared for them before the Hereafter, for this is a threat from Allah. Out of Allah's mercy towards His servants, when He speaks about the disbelievers and their punishment for their persistence in disbelief, we find Him giving the believers glad tidings of Paradise, its rivers, fruits, and pure spouses. He then demonstrates His creativity

and the precision of His creation in creating a creature as small as a mosquito, and how the perspective of a believer who believes in everything differs from that of a disbeliever who objects to everything. He describes the hypocrites with three characteristics: criticizing their natural covenant, severing family ties, and spreading corruption on earth.  It explains how they are doomed by these traits. God warns the unbelievers with a question filled with astonishment:

How can you see life and death before your eyes and then disbelieve, while you will return to God, when God Almighty is the Creator of everything on earth? "And God is over all things competent." May peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
