Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 276

Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities.

 And Allah does not like every sinning disbeliever.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 277

Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 278

O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 279

And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger.

 But if you repent, you may have your principal – [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 280

 “And if someone is in hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [from your right as] charity, then it is better for you, if you only knew.”

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 281

And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah.

 Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be wronged

Indeed, Allah Almighty withholds provision and expands it.

Therefore, Allah Almighty reassures the believers who spend and give zakat and charity to the poor that their zakat is what increases and grows. As for usury,

He withholds the provision of those who deal with usury. Indeed, He obliterates usury. and wastes it moment by moment. It does not disappear suddenly, but rather creeps into loss without anyone noticing.

How many people deal with usury, whom we have seen and known, and then learned how their souls were gradually lost? This also applies to all societies and countries worldwide and their usurious transactions,

 Which have corrupted the minds of the world and gradually led the entire world to corruption, reaching the peak of loss, ruin, and corruption. Whoever deals with usury... denies the blessings of Allah upon him. This is a grave act of disbelief, and Allah does not love any sinful disbeliever..

Interpretation of Verse 277 of Surah Al-Baqarah

And God reassures the believers who do righteous deeds, establish prayer, and give zakat that God will reward them well for their deeds. There will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Interpretation of Verse 278 of Surah Al-Baqarah

The verse begins with a call from God Almighty to the believers to fear God, meaning: fear God, follow His commands, and avoid His prohibitions, to protect themselves from His wrath and punishment.

 God Almighty commands them to refrain from engaging in usury and to respond to His call to return to God, repent, and abandon what involves usury.

Interpretation of Verse 279 of Surah Al-Baqarah

 

God Almighty protects the poor from usury and warns them that if they do not repent, God has already forgiven their previous sins. 

He warns them that whoever repents and returns to usury will be tormented in Hell, abiding therein forever.

  The verses also warn them of the war of God and His Messenger, meaning: if they do not respond and do what God has commanded them, then await God's punishment through a war from God, the Almighty, the All-Powerful, the All-Wise.

 

God Almighty fights the usurers with His soldiers, the number of which is known only to God Almighty, and seen only by Him. The war of the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) is clear, starting with his teaching us and his striking the usurers with his own hands. 

This is the war that must be fought. It is the war of the Messenger of God with his soldiers, who are the believers who oppose everything that angers God and avoid usury. God Almighty has made it clear that whoever repents will receive only his wealth, nothing more. This will happen after repentance, when he receives only his wealth. They do not wrong anyone, and they do not wrong anyone.

Interpretation of Verse 280 of Surah Al-Baqarah

This verse demonstrates God's mercy toward those who intend to repent from dealing in usury by granting respite to the debtor if he is insolvent and unable to repay, until he is able to repay. In this case, the principal of the debt is considered a “goodly loan.”

You can either grant respite and delay repayment, or give some or all of the debt in charity. You may do as you wish. God has urged believers to do this, as this charity is among the best forms of charity and is a form of benevolence.

Interpretation of Verse 281 of Surah Al-Baqarah

It is part of God's mercy toward His servants that He warns them of this Day, so that they may make their actions, by obeying God's commands and avoiding His prohibitions, a protection from the horror of this Day, on which we will return to God willingly and with love for Him, but by God's command.

  We will see Allah, God willing, and Allah Almighty will hold us accountable. Every soul has fulfilled its debt and finished, and the reckoning will come, and each one will have what he earned in this world. And Allah Almighty is not unjust.
