.Haram Is Haram, Even If Everyone Is Doing It

.Introduction

In today’s world, many actions once considered unacceptable are becoming normalized. However, Islam teaches that what Allah has forbidden (haram) will always remain forbidden, no matter how widespread it becomes. Truth is not determined by numbers but by revelation. Therefore, Muslims are reminded to stay firm upon their faith, guided by the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and not be swayed by societal trends or peer pressure. Upholding what is halal and avoiding what is haram is a sign of true submission to Allah and a path to His eternal pleasure

.Guidance from the Qur’an

Allah says: “And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah” (Qur’an 6:116). This verse reminds us that truth is not defined by majority opinion but by divine guidance.

. The Prophet’s Warning

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “There will come a time when holding on to your religion will be like holding a burning coal” (Tirmidhi). This hadith shows how difficult it may become to resist sin when society normalizes it.

.Scholars on the Permanence of Haram

Imam al-Shafi’i emphasized that halal and haram are not subject to change based on trends or culture, but only by clear evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah. Thus, no amount of acceptance can make the forbidden permissible.

. Strength in Faith

Resisting peer pressure requires strong faith (iman). A believer must remember that standing with the truth, even alone, is better than following the crowd into falsehood

.The Reward of Patience

Allah promises: “Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account” (Qur’an 39:10). Patience in avoiding haram, even when everyone else indulges, brings immense reward

 .True Freedom Lies in Obedience

Modern society often promotes freedom as doing whatever one desires, even if it means crossing boundaries set by Allah. But real freedom, as explained by scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah, is liberation from desires and submission to Allah alone. Choosing to avoid haram, even against the tide, is the highest form of spiritual strength and freedom

.Conclusion

Haram does not become halal through popularity. True believers remain firm, seeking Allah’s pleasure above societal approval. Remaining steadfast ensures both spiritual protection and eternal success

So, we must avoid committing what is forbidden, as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) commanded us, so that we may  attain Allah’s pleasure to be happy in this world and the hereafter

O Allah, keep our hearts firm upon Your religion, help us obey You, protect us from what You have forbidden, and guide us to what pleases You
